EVZ vs SCL Tigers

On Saturday (18 January, 7.45 p.m.), the Zug team will welcome the Emmental team, who are in poor form, to the BOSSARD Arena.

It’s been over seven years since the SCL Tigers last won in Zug. Their 3:1 victory in October 2017 was followed by 16 games in a row in the BOSSARD Arena, which Zug won. Five players from that Zug team are still in the squad today: forwards Lino Martschini and Sven Senteler as well as defencemen Livio Stadler, Dominik Schlumpf and Tobias Geisser. The latter scored his fourth goal of the season in Wednesday’s 3-2 win over EHC Kloten. Tobias Geisser’s record is eight goals, achieved in the 2022-23 season.

The SCL Tigers only have one player left in their squad, Samuel Erni, who played in the last victorious match in the BOSSARD Arena. The defenceman with an EVZ past missed almost two months with an injury before he was able to play again last Thursday against EHC Biel (1:5 defeat). It was the fifth game the Emmental team had lost in a row. As a result, they have lost touch with the direct play-off places and are in 10th place ahead of Friday’s round.

Zug, on the other hand, have won five games in a row and have climbed to 2nd place in the table. What’s more, they have spoilt the home crowd with successes. They have won eight of their last ten matches. Lino Martschini has played a major part in this. After his two assists against EHC Kloten, he now has exactly 500 scoring points in the top league’s regular season.
