SC Bern vs EVZ

On Friday evening (17 January, 7.45 pm), the EVZ will visit the capital.

With a win tonight against Bern, the EVZ could move ahead of the Mutzen in the standings. After a mixed start to the season, SC Bern are in second place with 67 points after 38 games. The EVZ have also made up ground thanks to five wins from six games recently and are in fifth place with just two points less and the same number of games. In between are the HCD (38 games/66 points) and the ZSC Lions (34/65). Both are also in action tonight in Ticino.

Both EVZ and Bern are the only teams to have scored more than 120 goals this season. The two teams are also at the top of the league in terms of shooting efficiency with over 10%. Another similarity: if you compare the proportion of goals scored by imports with those scored by Swiss players, Zug and Bern are at the bottom of the league – only 31.45% and 35.77% of goals respectively are scored by foreign players. Nevertheless, Bern’s top scorer is Waltteri Merelä and the top scorer – who is also the league’s top scorer – is Austin Czarnik.

The SCB lead 5-4 on points after the three season duels so far, most recently securing the extra point at home thanks to a 3-2 overtime win.
