Martschini and Enzler earn money for EVZ youth

Lino Martschini and Rahel Enzler are the EVZ’s PostFinance top scorers.

Lino Martschini scored 18 goals and 26 assists in 47 games in the last qualification. This makes him the EVZ’s PostFinance top scorer. PostFinance pays 300 francs for each of his 44 scoring points. At the top scorer award ceremony on March 3, 2025 in Bern, the 32-year-old received a symbolic check from PostFinance Executive Board member Ron Schneider
for the sum of 13,200 francs raised. Rahel Enzler also collected plenty of points in the past regular season: CHF 18,750 for her 16 goals and 36 assists for the EVZ Juniors.

In total, the 22 top scorers in the National League and PostFinance Women’s League earned 331,200 francs for young Swiss ice hockey talent in the past qualifying season. This amount will be used entirely for the promotion of young talent and the professionalization of structures in women’s ice hockey.

PROMOTION OF YOUNG TALENT AND EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES IN SWISS ICE HOCKEY

PostFinance is passionately committed to promoting young Swiss ice hockey players and is actively committed to equal opportunities. This is why the top scorer concept, which has been successful in the National League, has also been extended to the top women’s ice hockey league, the PostFinance Women’s League. In this way, PostFinance wants to create equal opportunities for young players and promote the development of boys and girls in Swiss ice hockey in equal measure.

SAME GOAL, DIFFERENT IMPLEMENTATION: A COMPARISON OF THE TOP SCORER CONCEPTS

In the National League, PostFinance pays CHF 300 per scoring point – goal and assist of the top scorer. This calculation is not (yet) applied in the women’s league. Past seasons in the top women’s ice hockey league have shown that the top scorers of the best teams collect many times more points than the players of the teams at the bottom of the table. If the money were distributed on the basis of statistics, this gap would widen instead of narrowing. Instead, a lump sum of CHF 150,000 will be distributed among the eight clubs in the PostFinance Women’s League so that all top scorers receive the same amount of money for “their own” young talents. This measure is intended to help promote the professionalization of women’s ice hockey in Switzerland and strengthen the league as a whole. The vision is that the concept of the top scorer in the PostFinance Women’s League will be implemented at a later date in the same way as in the National League – i.e. payment based on points.
