With a loss, the 2024-25 season will be over before the end of March; with a win, the EVZ can fight its way into another home game on Saturday night. “This team has the experience to turn around a 3-0 deficit,” says Head Coach Dan Tangnes. “But we have to do much better. Tuesday night’s performance at home was one of the worst of the season. Now we’ve got our backs to the wall.”
Lino Martschini also came down hard on the team on Wednesday: “We used our emotions and frustration in the wrong way, that shouldn’t happen.” Every player has looked in the mirror and knows what he has to do better on Thursday.
In Game 3, it was once again top scorer Adam Tambellini who dealt Zug a blow with his second hat trick of the series. After scoring just one goal in each of the first two games, Zug couldn’t find a way past strong goalie Sandro Aeschlimann in the third round.
It’s do or die for the EVZ on Thursday evening (March 20, 20:00) in Davos.
Tangnes, who was celebrated with a choreography before the game, summed up: “The fans sang until the last second on Tuesday and gave their all. You can’t say that about us. I love the atmosphere in the BOSSARD Arena and we’ll do everything we can to make sure it’s not our last home game of the season and not my last game in Zug!”
EVZ will be without forward Mike Künzle for Game 4 and a possible Game 5. He was suspended for two games as a precaution after his check on Adam Tambellini. Otherwise, nothing should change in Zug’s lineup for Thursday night.
