After the Betano Hockey Games, Head Coach Patrick Fischer is making further adjustments to the team in order to prepare the Swiss national team optimally for the World Championship opener in Herning and Stockholm. Four NHL players will strengthen the squad, while the same number of players will have to leave the team. Further changes to the squad will be announced on an ongoing basis.
Following the last tournament of the Euro Hockey Tour, Head Coach Patrick Fischer and his staff have made some changes to the squad for the 2025 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship.
The Swiss national team can currently count on the support of four NHL players. Nico Hischier, captain of the New Jersey Devils, joins the team – he scored an impressive 73 points this season, including the playoffs. His teammates Timo Meier (28 goals, 29 assists) and defenseman Jonas Siegenthaler are also traveling to the World Championships with him. In addition, Janis Moser, defender with the Tampa Bay Lightning and last in the 2023 World Championship squad, will once again strengthen the Swiss defense.
Defenseman Roger Karrer and forwards Fabian Ritzmann, Sven Senteler and Samuel Walser will not be called up for the World Championships.
