The defenseman joined EVZ in the summer of 2021 from the Swedish team Rögle BK and played a key role in the club’s third Swiss championship title in the spring of 2022. With 49 points in 63 games, Niklas Hansson was Zug’s second-best scorer and most productive defenseman, and no other player was on the ice as long as the Swede.
In the following years, Hansson was thwarted by injuries several times and was unable to match his record figures from the championship season. EVZ is now terminating the 30-year-old’s contract, which runs until 2026, early.
The EVZ would like to thank Niklas Hansson for his commitment over the past four years and wishes him every success in his future career.
