For seven years, Dan Tangnes has shaped a chapter of EVZ history that will be immortalized in the history books forever: a cup victory in 2019, the points record in 2021, and two championship titles in 2021 and 2022. On Tuesday, September 23, the successful coach will now be officially bid farewell before the game against HC Davos.
The day and the opponent were, of course, not chosen entirely at random: on the one hand, the new head coach of Rögle BK naturally had to adhere to the SHL schedule, and on the other hand, a companion and, above all, a good friend of Dan Tangnes is coming to Zug on Tuesday evening – Josh Holden. As fate would have it, it was Holden who unexpectedly ended the Norwegian’s chapter at EVZ last March with HCD.
Before the home game against Davos on September 23, long-time EVZ head coach Dan Tangnes will be officially honored.
Dan Tangnes was brought to Central Switzerland in spring 2018 as a dynamic coach and promoter of young talent. His profile was a perfect fit for EVZ’s vision of promoting young talent from its own youth ranks and bringing them to the top. “Seven years ago, I was given the opportunity to take on the position of head coach at one of the best organizations in Europe. These seven years have been marked by many unforgettable experiences, successes, and friendships. I am incredibly grateful for that,” said the 46-year-old last November when he announced his return to Sweden. EVZ fans will remember him as a charismatic and popular figure.
FAREWELL AT 7:30 PM
Dan Tangnes’ farewell ceremony will take place on the ice immediately before the game. The EVZ therefore asks all match attendees to be in their seats by 7:30 p.m. at the latest. The last tickets for the game are available in the ticket shop.
