On Tuesday evening, during the game against the SCL Tigers, Lino Martschini twisted his knee while shooting and had to leave the game early. Further examinations at Zug Cantonal Hospital on Wednesday revealed that the 32-year-old had injured his anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus and that surgery was unavoidable. This means that EVZ’s record goal scorer will be out for the rest of the current season.
The EVZ forward injured his anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus and will be out for the rest of the season.
Martschini scored his 260th goal for EVZ on October 19, equaling Heinz Jenni’s 41-year-old record. He will now have to wait until at least next season to break the record and play his 750th National League game for Zug – Martschini currently has 744 games under his belt.
