These Zug players will be in the national team next week

Several EVZ players will be travelling with their national team in the December break.

From 11 to 14 December, the Swiss men’s national team will play the SWISS Ice Hockey Games home tournament at the Swiss Life Arena in Zurich. Meanwhile, the women’s national team will play the third tournament of the Women’s Euro Hockey Tour (WEHT) in Lahti and Hämeenlinna (Finland) from 8 to 12 December.

EURO HOCKEY TOUR – ZURICH

The Swiss national team is preparing for the Olympic Games and the 2026 World Championships in Switzerland with the SWISS Ice Hockey Games from 11 to 14 December 2025 at the Swiss Life Arena in Zurich. Head coach Patrick Fischer is relying on an experienced squad, including several players with over 100 international caps.

The second tournament of the Euro Hockey Tour serves as an important dress rehearsal for the 2026 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship in Zurich and Fribourg and is also the last gathering before the Olympic Games in Milan and Cortina in February 2026.

Romain Loeffel (157), three-time World Championship silver medallist Leonardo Genoni (145), Tristan Scherwey (117), Dean Kukan (116) and Gaëtan Haas (104) have already made over 100 appearances for Switzerland. Grégory Hofmann and Christian Marti are on the verge of a personal anniversary with 98 international caps.

Fischer is relying on continuity with the staff: as at the last World Championship, assistant coaches Marcel Jenni and Rikard Franzén will support him. Jan Cadieux, who is preparing for the World Championship with the U20 team, will not be present.

“After the findings from the Euro Hockey Tour in Finland in November, we want to further develop the team in Zurich so that we can gain more and more clarity about the final Olympic roster. I’m looking forward to a full Swiss Life Arena and to our fans supporting us loudly and in large numbers,” says Patrick Fischer.

Also at the SWISS Ice Hockey Games with their national teams are Lukas Bengtsson and Andreas Wingerli (SWE) and Dominik Kubalik and Daniel Vozenilek (CZE).
