Playoffs, we’re still coming!

After a difficult regular season, EVZ is ready when it counts. Zug beat the SCRJ Lakers in the first and second leg by a total score of 6:4 and capitalised on their first of two play-off chances in the play-in games.

After Thursday’s clear 5:2 win in the OYM hall, coach Benoît Groulx’s team sealed the deal away in Rapperswil. Despite the 2:1 defeat. Colin Lindemann scored the all-important 1-0 goal in the 7th minute. The Lakers now need four goals, but only score two and the EVZ, who concentrate on defence from the middle of the game onwards, are able to defend their cushion. The path to the playoffs is successfully mastered via the “play-in” diversions.

Against Davos or Fribourg in the playoffs

While the Lakers get a second playoff chance on Monday and Wednesday, the EVZ get a five-day break to prepare for their playoff quarter-final. However, the Zug team won’t know its opponent until Wednesday evening. Since the final rank of the regular season is decisive for the playoff pairings, everything now depends on Rappi (seventh after 52 qualifying rounds). If the Lakers still manage to qualify for the playoffs, the EVZ will face HC Davos. If the SCRJ also rattle through the second play-in round, Zug will be challenged by Fribourg-Gottéron.

Public ticket sales for the two home games on Sunday, 22 March and Thursday, 26 March will start on Monday, 16 March at 12.30 pm. Season tickets remain valid for the playoff quarter-finals.
