Jan Daron will be taking part in the Division I World Championships in Poland with Switzerland in April. U18 national coach Patrick Schöb’s team will be aiming to return to the top flight.
Jan Daron made his debut in the National League this season and scored one goal in nine games. He spent the majority of the 2025-26 season in the U21-Elit team. In the playoffs against the GCK Lions and in the Ranking Round, he scored two goals and one assist in eight games. Now his season in the U18 national team continues. No other Zug players have been called up.
The U18 national team starts its preparations for the World Championship with 21 players and three goalkeepers. At least two more forwards will join them in the coming week before the squad is reduced to 20 players and three goalkeepers over the course of the preparations. “We have a hungry group that has grown together over the past two years and has a clear objective. With high intensity across all five games, a strong battle level and as a cohesive team, we will do everything we can to realise immediate promotion,” says Head Coach Patrick Schöb.
World Cup preparations begin on Tuesday, 7 April 2026, in Herisau. After four intensive days of training, the U18 team will play a test match against Germany on Saturday, 11 April 2026 at 15:30. On Monday, 13 April 2026, the team will travel to Poland. Before the first World Cup match, another test match against Hungary is scheduled for 15 April.
