After a clear 33:0 victory in the cup round of 16 in Thun, the EVZ also impressed with a 6:0 win at home against Fribourg-Gottéron from the top women’s league in the round of 16 shortly before Christmas. Ambrì-Piotta now await in the quarter-finals: The Ticino side are in third place in the PostFinance Women’s League (2.278 points per game) and are battling SC Bern (2.45) and the ZSC Lions (2.5) for top spot in the table.
The Zug team had already faced the HCAP Girls in pre-season and won the game 3:1 away from home. «The quarter-final against Ambrì will be a real touchstone», says captain Lara Stalder. «We really want to qualify for the National Cup Finals!» These will take place on February 3 and 4 in Lucerne.
