«By extending the contracts of Chiara, Elena and Leonie, we are sending out another signal of continuity,» says Head Coach Daniela Diaz. «Our team has grown together as a unit in recent months and is about to take the next big step in its process: the SWHL B final.» EVZ’s big goal is, of course, promotion to the PostFinance Women’s League. «We’ve been working towards this all season. It would be fantastic if we could play in the top Swiss league with this squad next year.»
Chiara Pfosi joined Zug last March after a nine-year stay in the USA. The goalkeeper studied at Aurora University in the state of Illinois and played for the university team in NCAA III (W). In order to get enough game practice in Switzerland and gain experience at the highest level, Pfosi was loaned to the Fribourg-Gottéron Ladies in the fall and played six games in the PostFinance Women’s League. She has now extended her contract with EVZ by one year.
Elena Gaberell has signed a two-year contract until 2026. The defenseman missed most of the season due to a concussion, but has already proven her great potential in ten games (7 goals, 18 assists) with the EVZ. The 18-year-old came to Zug from Lugano last spring after the Ticino women’s team was disbanded.
Leonie Kutzer, who is the same age, has also extended her contract with EVZ until 2026. The Austrian international is one of the team’s mainstays in defense and also knows how to make her mark offensively: In 20 games so far, she has scored eleven goals and set up 18 assists. Kutzer brings experience from the top league from her time with the Thurgau Ladies (now HC Davos Ladies).
