Comparison with the record champion

Zug will host the ZSC Lions in the PostFinance Women’s League on Saturday. On Sunday, they will face SC Langenthal Damen.

Last Sunday, the EVZ Women’s Team lost a championship game for the first time ever: 1:2 against HC Fribourg-Gottéron. How are they dealing with it? “This defeat didn’t throw us off course,” says forward Rahel Enzler. On the contrary, they are taking this encounter as an opportunity to learn. One lesson learned is to look for a more straightforward way to score. Zug were the superior team against HC Fribourg-Gottéron. However, they missed numerous scoring opportunities. “There are games like that,” says international Rahel Enzler, who knows from her many years of experience.

Two opportunities to get back on the road to success await this weekend. On Saturday, the EVZ will host the ZSC Lions, the reigning Swiss champions (5.30 p.m., BOSSARD Arena). The Zurich team are the record champions with nine titles. They initially struggled in the current season. The matches against the HCAP Girls, HC Davos Ladies and SC Bern were all lost. They won the last two encounters, with SC Langenthal Ladies and Neuchâtel Hockey Academy, both by zero points. “Playing against the ZSC Lions is never easy,” says Rahel Enzler, who leads the scoring charts with EVZ captain Lara Stalder (11 points). Zurich’s best points scorer is Skylar Fontaine (9).

The game against the ZSC Lions will be held under the motto “Ladies Night”. In addition to an exclusive offer on the Dine & View Terrace, the country’s strongest woman, the Swiss wrestling queen Isabel Egli, will throw in the puck during the ceremonial puck drop. All visitors to the game will also be offered a Cüpli!

The Zug women will also be in action on Sunday. They will then travel to SC Langenthal Damen (5.30 p.m., Huttwil Campus ice rink). The Bernese side are bottom of the table with no points after five games.
