Last weekend, EVZ secured their ticket to the playoffs (starting on March 8). This also applies to SC Bern, who are one point ahead of Zug in the PostFinance Women’s League table. These two teams will decide the qualification victory between themselves on the upcoming final weekend. While the Bernese team will play at HCAP Girls and host HC Davos Ladies, the Zug team will host HC Fribourg-Gottéron on Saturday (Saturday, 3.30 p.m.) and at Campus Huttwil, where they will face SC Langenthal Ladies (Sunday, 5.30 p.m.). The sixth-placed HCFG is the only team against which the Zug team currently has a negative record: one win and two defeats. EVZ has won all three of its previous encounters against bottom-placed Langenthal.
The Zug women play away against HC Fribourg-Gottéron on Saturday (February 22, 3.30 p.m.) and against SC Langenthal Damen on Sunday (February 23, 5.30 p.m.) to round off the regular season.
“Winning the qualifiers would be a great reward for the team’s hard work in recent weeks and months,” says EVZ Head Coach Daniela Diaz. She also wants to use the last few games to further consolidate the automatisms. For captain Lara Stalder and Rahel Enzler, it’s also about improving their position in the scoring charts. Lara Stalder is in fourth place with 45 points (25 goals, 20 assists), five points behind the leading Davos player Elizabeth Lang. Her forward partner Rahel Enzler follows in 6th place with 44 points (13, 31), while Bernese players Estelle Duvin (50 points) and Maija Otamo (46) also have a shot at the top scorer crown. The forwards recently extended their contracts in the federal city by two years.
