The 19-year-old Chiara Eggli began her ice hockey career at the EVZ field hockey school before finding her way into the ZSC Lions organization via the HC Innerschwyz junior team. There she played both in the SWHL B and in the top division, today’s PostFinance Women’s League, and won the Swiss championship title twice. For two years now, she has been a forward for the EVZ again and will stay with the team for at least another season.
Vanessa Ryhner will also continue to play for the EVZ. The 27-year-old left winger joined Zug from SC Langenthal Damen in the 2023/24 season.
EVZ extends the contracts of forwards Chiara Eggli and Vanessa Ryhner by one year each.
«I am delighted that we have been able to extend the contracts with Chiara and Vanessa. Both of them have made great progress in recent years and still show potential for further development.»
Daniela Diaz, Head Coach
Vanessa Ryhner celebrated her comeback in December after a lengthy foot injury and was able to “quickly find her way back into her role as a power forward and leading player”. Diaz also sees Chiara Eggli as a promising talent with good scoring qualities. “She has what it takes to grow into a team leader in the coming years.”
However, goalie Eveliina Mäkinen, defenseman Lorena Wrann and forwards Naemi Herzig, Lena-Marie Lutz and Julia Näf will leave the EVZ. Herzig will be studying at Holy Cross University starting next season and will play in the NCAA. She will complete her summer training with the EVZ until then. Lena-Marie Lutz, Lorena Wrann and Eveliina Mäkinen are aiming for a further commitment in the PostFinance Women’s League, while Julia Näf will continue her development in the SWHL B with partner team EHC Sursee.
