The 19-year-old Yara Keller comes from central Switzerland and will form the goalie duo of the EVZ together with Chiara Pfosi. She completed her junior training with EHC Sursee and HC Lucerne. Last season, she stood between the posts for the U20-A juniors of HC Innerschwyz and the men’s teams of EHC Seewen II (3rd division) and EHC Urdorf (2nd division). Between 2021 and 2024, the Lucerne native also gained valuable experience in the top Swiss women’s leagues with EHC Sursee and HC Ambrì-Piotta Girls.
EVZ signs three new players for the 2025/26 season: The two forwards Sarah Mettler and Lia Egger as well as goalkeeper Yara Keller.
The EVZ is also gaining reinforcements in offense: Sarah Mettler and Lia Egger, two talented forwards, are joining the team. Mettler, who is only 14 years old, is considered one of the most promising young talents in Swiss women’s ice hockey. The left-shooter currently plays for the U15 Elite Juniors of EHC Winterthur. She has also already made appearances in the SWHL B with the SC Rapperswil-Jona Lady Lakers and in the SWHL C with the ZSC Lions Girls. In January, she was part of the Swiss squad at the U18 World Championship in Finland.
Lia Egger is also joining the EVZ on a one-year deal. The 21-year-old from Freiamt brings several years of experience from the PostFinance Women’s League and the SWHL B with her. In recent years, she has played for Langenthal, Lugano, Bassersdorf, Sursee and Reinach, where she played alongside EVZ forward Luisa Waser and assistant coach Sandra Thalmann.
With these new additions, the squad planning for the 2025/26 season is largely complete. “We will sign another import forward,” explains Head Coach Daniela Diaz. “We are in close contact with several candidates. We will make a decision after the World Championship in the Czech Republic at the end of April.” In addition, several players from partner club EHC Sursee will also benefit from targeted development opportunities in joint training groups with the EVZ Women’s Team in the coming season.
