3vs3 tournament on Saturday in Zug

Premiere at the OYM hall: On Saturday, Zug will host its first ever 3vs3 tournament. In addition to the EVZ Women’s Team, the women’s teams from SC Bern, HC Davos, and ZSC Lions will also compete against each other.

Just a few days before the decisive phase of the PostFinance Women’s League with pre-playoffs and playoffs, the tournament on Saturday, February 21, offers a special preview: players from four of the league’s top teams will compete in the most modern form of international ice hockey and test the new format.

What is 3vs3?
In 3vs3, as the name suggests, three field players per team compete against each other. Developed by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF), this format offers fast-paced action, lots of excitement, and spectacular plays.

The main differences from classic ice hockey

  • Special cross boards are installed along the blue lines in the OYM hall, creating two new playing fields.
  • The players’ benches are located along these new boards.
  • Each game lasts 18 minutes without interruptions.
  • Penalties result directly in penalties for the fouled player.
