As announced at today's media conference of the Federal Council, more stringent measures to combat the coronavirus will come into force with immediate effect.
EVZ notes with consternation and disappointment the new measures that have been adopted. The EVZ is aware of the importance of protecting the health system and containing the spread of the virus. With a comprehensive protection concept, every effort has been made to hold safe sporting events. The spectators have complied with the measures in an exemplary manner and thus made their contribution. The further tightening of the regulations is very worrying for the organization and will have existential, economic consequences for the whole enterprise. The organization is working flat out to react to the now even greater challenges and to survive. A big thank you goes to our loyal fans, sponsors and partners who have supported the club since the beginning of the crisis and have shown solidarity.
Home games without spectators
Due to the new measures, future home games will take place without spectators. All season tickets are no longer valid for the games. Purchased one-way tickets will be refunded. We kindly ask for your patience in handling the refunds.
Honoring Fabian Schnyder postponed
The official tribute and farewell to Fabian Schnyder (planned for October 30 and November 1) will be postponed indefinitely. It is the concern of the EVZ to give Fabian Schnyder a proper farewell. Unfortunately this is not possible at the moment.
National League will continue until 1 December
During their conference call on October 28, the National League clubs decided to continue playing for the time being until December 1. On 2 December, the league leadership and the NL clubs will conduct a new assessment of the situation. This assessment will include the epidemiological situation in Switzerland and the status of the financial aid promised by the Swiss Confederation. The National League points out once again that ghost games without financial support from the federal government will inevitably lead to the insolvency of the clubs over a longer period of time.
