After Linz the EVZ also beat Adler Mannheim on Sunday with one goal difference.
With two narrow wins against the Austrian EBEL representative Black Wings Linz (3:2) and against the traditional DEL club Adler Mannheim (2:1), the EVZ secured the victory in the tournament "World Class Ice Hockey in Wil" as in the previous year. The winning goal in Sunday's decisive match against the Germans was scored by Reto Suri four minutes before the end. The national striker was one of the most conspicuous and was also unlucky with a shot at the goalpost. As in the Dolomites Cup, the two Swedes Viktor Stalberg and Carl Klingberg were among the scorers in the second preparatory tournament in eastern Switzerland. Even though EVZ Head Coach Dan Tangnes didn't like his team's 3-0 lead in Friday's first game, he noticed an overall increase over the previous week. Mannheim, who had beaten the Swiss vice champion Lugano 4-1 the day before, must be beaten first. At least the main rehearsal for the Champions Hockey League was successful. On Friday, the Zugers will travel to Berlin for their first group match, and on Saturday they will fly on to Belarus, where they will meet the Belarusian champions Grodno on Sunday.
