Tuesday, 08.05.2018 // 12:02

First Cup round with Winterthur-EVZ and EVZ Academy-Langenthal.

The first team of the EVZ will play away against the EHC Winterthur in the 1/16 finals of the Swiss Ice Hockey Cup 2018/2019. The Swiss League Team EVZ Academy receives SC Langenthal in the first round of the Cup at home.

The Zug National League team started into the Cup competition in Winterthur in the 2014/2015 season and won 7-0 away, when Zurich were still in the first division and have been playing in the Swiss League since 2015. Last season, they finished 10th behind the EVZ farm team, with goalkeeper Fabio Haller and defender Reto Kobach on the team of long-time ZSC vorward Michael Zeiter (head coach and sports director).

The EVZ Academy farm team meets Reto Kläy's former club at home. Langenthal has been one of the top teams in the second-highest league for years. Last season, the Bernese team failed as the runner-up of the regular season in the play-off semi-finals due to Olten (1:4). Coach since 2017 is the Swede Per Hanberg. Also in the 2018/2019 squad is Nico Dünner, a vorward who has grown up in the EVZ junior team.

The games of the first round will take place on 18/19 September. Information about the schedule and ticket sales for the home game will follow.
