Erik Thorell (27), top scorer at Finnish top club HIFK Helsinki, signed a two-year contract in Zug.

The only 27-year-old wing forward (date of birth: 3 March 1992) comes from the junior section of the traditional Swedish club Färjestad BK, with whom he made his debut in the top league as an 18-year-old in 2010 and celebrated his championship title in 2011. For the last three years he has played in Finland, first for Turku, the last two seasons for HIFK Helsinki. In Helsinki he was the top scorer of the team twice in a row with 55 scorer points. After a sixth and a fifth place in the Regular Season the team failed against Kärpät Oulu in the play-off semi-final.

Erik Thorell is 178 cm tall and weighs 81 kg. He is regarded as a hard playing power wing and a team player with above-average running skills and an exemplary attitude. "With his character, his speed, his intensive playing and his score qualities, he exactly meets our requirements", general manager Reto Kläy is pleased about the commitment of the forward, who became U20 World Champion with Sweden in 2012.
