The 19-year-old goalkeeper will remain in Zug until at least 2022.
Luca Hollenstein came to Zug from EHC Chur in the 2015/16 season and began his sports and professional training at "The Hockey Academy" in 2016, from which he will graduate in the summer of 2020. After that, the goalkeeper, who is only 19 years old, will remain with Zug for at least two more seasons. General Manager Reto Kläy is pleased that he will be able to continue working with the proven duo between the posts for the longer term: "In addition to Leonardo Genoni, the clear number 1, we need a strong backup who can already replace him at any time and one day become his successor. Luca has shown a very good last season in the Swiss League and a strong U20 World Championship and has confirmed in the current season that he is one of the best goalies of his age group and is already amazingly serene for his young age. The extension of his contract is a strong signal for our training of young players and his confidence in the cooperation with Leonardo Genoni".
At the EVZ, the number two goalkeeper also regularly receives time in the first team. Luca Hollenstein has already made two appearances in the National League and three appearances in the Champions Hockey League this season.
