The 23-year-old striker from the EVZ juniors devision returns temporarily to Switzerland and starts the ice hockey season in the Zug jersey.
Born in Zug, he transferred from the EVZ juniors devistion to North America in 2015 to join the Kelowna Rockets in the WHL and was drafted by the NHL organization Columbus Blue Jackets in 2016. Last season he booked 26 scorer points in 53 games with the AHL farm team Cleveland Monsters, celebrated his NHL debut and played a total of three NHL games for the Columbus Blue Jackets.
His contract expired this summer and his future is still uncertain. It is clear, however, that Thürkauf is already practicing again this week with the 1st team at OYM and will start the season with EVZ. The contract with EVZ is valid until he signs a NHL/AHL contract and the season in North America will start.
