The 39-year-old Canadian signed a one-year contract with the Swiss League team EVZ Academy with an option for another year.
Jason O'Leary succeeds Stefan Hedlund of Sweden, who has joined the National League team as assistant coach. In the 2017/2018 season, O'Leary was assistant to Craig Woodcroft at Geneva-Servette in the National League. His skills as coach and trainer are well known to sports director Reto Kläy. As Sports Director of SC Langenthal, he brought Jason O'Leary from the European location of the Canadian Okanagan Hockey Academy in Austria to Switzerland in 2013 and engaged him as junior coach and assistant coach of the first team. One year later, the Canadian took over SC Langenthal as head coach and led the Oberaargau team to the Swiss League championship title in the 2016/2017 season.
Reto Kläy is delighted that he was able to win him over for his training work at the EVZ: "He enjoys working with young players and fits in perfectly with our coaching team. The former EVZ player Janick Steinmann will remain assistant coach of the EVZ Academy farm team.
