Nine points, 21 goals scored and nine goals conceded from the last four games – the EVZ seems to have rediscovered its offensive power, while its defensive work has become more solid. “We often created a lot of chances, but didn’t make enough of them. At the same time, we were punished harshly for small mistakes,” summarizes Head Coach Dan Tangnes. In the last few games against Ajoie, Fribourg and Lugano, the hard work was finally rewarded again – and they also came close to winning a point against the clear leaders Zurich.
Zug have climbed to 8th place in the table, level on points with Biel, Ambrì and Bern in places 5 to 7. EVZ are behind these teams based on direct encounters, although they have the better goal difference – at +8, it is the third best in the entire league.
The EVZ welcomes Genève-Servette HC to the BOSSARD Arena on Friday (October 25, 7:45 p.m.).
With Geneva-Servette, a team comes to Zug on Friday evening that is behind the EVZ, but has had a better start to the season in terms of losing points, albeit not according to plan. To make matters worse, the Grenats were only able to play their first home game a week ago, when they picked up three points against the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers. Due to renovation work at Les Vernets, Geneva played eight games at the start of the season without their fans behind them. The second home game last Monday had to be postponed due to power problems, and on Wednesday they lost the Léman derby at home 2:3.
For EVZ, Lukas Bengtsson returns to the lineup after missing the game in Lugano due to illness. Grégory Hofmann made a perfect comeback on Tuesday with a goal and an assist. Leonardo Genoni and Dominik Schlumpf are still missing.
