Winning the World Championship title on home soil. That is the big dream of ice hockey Switzerland. Will it come true this spring? Things get serious for the national team from 15 May.
Preparations for the World Championships start on Tuesday and five players from Zug – Leonardo Genoni, Grégory Hofmann, Tobias Geisser, Sven Senteler and Fabrice Herzog – are in national coach Patrick Fischer’s provisional squad. All NHL players and players from the play-off semi-finalists HCD, ZSC, Genève-Servette and Fribourg-Gottéron are not yet included.
An intensive programme awaits the four Zug national team players. Switzerland will play a total of ten preparation games before the first puck drop at the home World Championship, the first two next week in Slovakia.
The EVZ congratulates its five players on their nomination and wishes the national team a successful preparation camp!
