The EVZ training centre “The Hockey Academy” is being repositioned in terms of sports and now includes the three performance teams EVZ Academy, U20-Elite and U17-Elite. For the two areas The Hockey Academy and Juniors, the functions “Head of Sports The Hockey Academy” and “Head of Sports Juniors” were created.
General Manager and Head of Sports National League
As General Manager, Reto Kläy is and remains responsible for the sports department at the EVZ. Under his leadership, the whole department will be restructured. Reporting directly to GM Sport Reto Kläy and working for various teams are the departments Goalie Development (Head Simon Pfister), Physiotherapy (Head Nicole Schuler), Skating (Head Cyndy Kenyon) and Equipment (Head Patrick Nideröst) as well as the staff units Sport Operations and Sport Administraiton. Andreas Tresch is responsible for the staff unit Sport Operations, the administrative tasks are distributed to different persons depending on the project. The already existing function as Head of Sports National League will continue to be performed by Reto Kläy. This area includes the players, coaches, and officials of the National League team.
New Head of Sports The Hockey Academy
The biggest changes concern the flagship project “The Hockey Academy”, which became necessary due to the open position of the manager and the upcoming opening of the OYM College. For the sports sector, the position of Head of Sports The Hockey Academy will be created. It will be filled by Roland Schmid, who together with Reto Kläy has already been responsible ad interim for the associated tasks in recent months. However, The Hockey Academy will now not only comprise the four school classes with the athletes from The Hockey Academy, but also the three performance and training teams EVZ Academy (Swiss League), U20-Elite and U17-Elite. These are the three teams from which most of the graduates of The Hockey Academy’s training concept are also recruited. Roland Schmid has overall responsibility as Head of Sports at The Hockey Academy, at his side are Roger Hansson (Head Coach of the farm team and Head of Development), Fabio Schumacher (Head Coach U20-Elit) and Marcel Jenni (Head Coach U17-Elit). The position of “Head of The Hockey Academy”, as held by Lars Weibel, will therefore not be filled. The tasks will be divided into sports and education (OYM College) and will be expanded as mentioned above
New Head of Sports Juniors
In addition to the Head of Sports The Hockey Academy, the position of Head of Sports Juniors has also been created. This position is held by the long-time Fanion player Sven Lindemann, who also continues to act as Head Coach of the U15 team. Together with professional coach Matthias Hügli, he is responsible for training the junior teams. The junior section includes the teams U13 (Head Coach Matthias Hügli), U11, U9 and the Young Bulls Hockey School as well as the teams U20 A and U17 A, the second team in the 2nd division and the seniors.
The OYM College will in future be responsible for all aspects of schooling, from the education as Büroassistenten EBA and Kaufmann EFZ to obtaining the Matura, this in cooperation with the Sportmittelschule Engelberg.
