The 29-year-old forward returns to Switzerland for family reasons.
In December, Grégory Hofmann had returned to his wife in Switzerland for the birth of his first daughter. For family reasons, he is now breaking off his NHL commitment that started last summer and has asked the Columbus Blue Jackets, for whom he appeared 24 times this season and collected 7 scorer points (2 goals, 5 assists), to terminate his contract.
As soon as all regulatory NHL transfer formalities are completed, Hofmann will be able to resume his contract with EVZ, which still runs until 2023. At EVZ, the 182 cm tall and 79 kg winger has played 99 games in two seasons so far, scoring 48 goals and 54 assists.
The return of Grégory Hofmann also means for the EVZ that from his first game only four import players can be used and thus one foreigner will be supernumerary at a time.
Welcome back to the EVZ, Grégory!
