Eggenberger to EVZ in exchange for Muggli

EVZ and HC Ambrì-Piotta agree on a trade of the two forwards Tim Muggli and Nando Eggenberger.

Während der 20-jährige Tim Muggli nach Abschluss seiner Ausbildung in der Hockey Academy diesen Sommer den Weg in die Leventina antritt, macht der Bündner Nando Eggenberger den umgekehrten Weg.

«Nando brings an element that we can make good use of. He already has a lot of experience for his age, but we still see a lot of potential in him, which we hope he can exploit with us.»

Reto Kläy, General Manager EVZ

Eggenberger made his National League debut at the beginning of 2016 at the age of 16 in an HC Davos uniform. Two more seasons in the Landwasser Valley followed before he spent a season in the Canadian junior league OHL with the Oshawa Generals in 2018-19 – together with Nico Gross. After his return to Switzerland, the 188 cm tall and 92 kg power wing started the season with Davos, but soon moved to the SCRJ Lakers. Two productive seasons with 12 goals each in qualifying were rewarded with his first national team call-up in 2021. Last summer, the 24-year-old moved to Ambri on a two-year contract.

Dan Tangnes, Head Coach EVZ

The trade of the two forwards came about after extensive analysis and discussions. Muggli went through all the junior levels at EVZ and became Swiss champion once with the U17-Elit and twice with the U20-Elit. He got his first taste of the National League in the 2022-23 season, this year he made 30 regular-season games and two appearances in the playoffs. Now the time has come for him to take on a new challenge, says Tangnes. “The trade is the best solution for everyone,” adds Kläy. “Tim can continue to develop in a new team, while Nando’s profile will be another piece of the puzzle in our squad for 2024/25.”
