EVZ and Dan Tangnes extend the contract until 2024.
In his first season 2018/19 as Head Coach, Dan Tangnes led the team to cup victory and to the play-off final for the runner-up spot. The qualification 2019/20 was finished on the 2nd place like one year before, unfortunately the playoffs 2019/20 did not take place. By extending the contract until 2024, EVZ is focusing on continuity and thus sending a clear signal. CEO Patrick Lengwiler: "Dan Tangnes has done an excellent job over the last two years, which is reflected in the results as well as in the development of the players. Dan is and will remain our head coach for the next years. We have common goals, which we want to achieve together".
Dan Tangnes, born in Oslo, Norway, worked in Sweden for about ten years before moving to Zug, for both Linköping and Rögle organizations. The Head Coach is happy about the extension of the contract: "I got to know the EVZ as a highly professional and highly motivated organization. All persons, team, staff and management jointly pursue the success of the organization and subordinate everything to it. It makes me proud to do my part and to continue this team".
The integration and promotion of young athletes in the NL team is of great importance in the EVZ. To this end, EVZ has invested a lot in recent years and laid the foundations with the training concept The Hockey Academy and the establishment of its own Swiss League Farmteam EVZ Academy. The current 25-man NL team already includes 11 players from the company's own youth development program. "Dan Tangnes is a trainer who can and wants to help players advance. Together we will make the EVZ the best training center in Switzerland in the next few years and at the same time play successful ice hockey," continues Patrick Lengwiler.
The contractual modalities took into account that a continuation of the Corona crisis could lead to dramatic changes in Swiss ice hockey. If this should be the case, the contract can be adjusted accordingly in one year's time.
