Fredrik Olofsson ventured across the Atlantic as a 14-year-old and played in American junior leagues until 2015. He then went on to study at the University of Nebraska-Omaha and played four years in the NCAA before returning to his native Sweden to join MODO (Allsvenskan) in 2019. Just one season later, the center, who can also play on the wing, was signed by IK Oskarshamn. During two years in the SHL, the 188 cm tall and 89 kg left winger scored 30 goals and 54 assists in 108 games and was also rewarded for his good performances with a national team call-up for the 2022 Olympic Games.
In the summer of 2022, Olofsson, who was drafted 98th in the 4th round by the Chicago Blackhawks in 2014, once again answered the call from North America and joined the Dallas Stars. He appeared in 30 games for the NHL franchise from Texas and spent the rest of the season with the AHL affiliate Texas Stars. Now, after another season in the NHL for the Colorado Avalanche and Eagles (AHL), the Swede is returning to Europe and signing a two-year contract with the EVZ.
With the signing of Olofsson until 2026, EVZ’s roster for the 2024-25 season is complete. The Swede is Zug’s 7th import player.
«Fredrik will give our team even more water displacement and width for the coming season. After last season, we made a conscious decision to start the new season with seven foreigners so that we would be prepared in the event of bad luck with injuries.»
Reto Kläy, General Manager EVZ
Fredrik Olofsson will wear the number 8 at EVZ. With his signing, the squad planning for the 2024/25 season is complete.
